Mars
Mars is the fourth planet from the Sun and the second-smallest planet in the Solar System. The planet is named after the Roman god of war.
Mars is often called the Red Planet because of the iron oxide present on its surface. It has two moons, Phobos and Deimos. Like Earth, Mars has clouds, winds, a roughly 24-hour day, seasonal weather patterns, polar ice caps, volcanoes, canyons, and other familiar features.
Salt deposits on Mars hold clues to sources of ancient water
The study offers way to test whether water flowed deep underground on Red Planet.
Lomonosov crater could be more evidence of mega-tsunami on Mars
The arguments for a tsunami and now a possible source provide new evidence for a longer-lasting ocean on Mars—a topic that is still very much under debate by Mars scientists.
New finds for Mars rover, seven years after landing
The Mars rover is now halfway through a region scientists call the "clay-bearing unit" on the side of Mount Sharp, inside of Gale Crater
Red wine’s resveratrol could help Mars explorers stay strong
Red wine's resveratrol substantially preserves muscle mass and strength in rats exposed to the wasting effects of simulated Mars gravity.
Meteors help Martian clouds form
Enormous cloud-like plumes reaching 260km above the surface of Mars have left scientists baffled. This is way beyond Mars’s typical weather, entering into the...
