Tesla is at the forefront of the technology in the auto industry as the first automaker to offer over-the-air (OTA) software updates for all its vehicles. Now, it is about to start a WiFi hotspot in new Tesla cars.
Now CEO Elon Musk says that he is considering it along with a dynamic 360-degree surround view feature.
On Tuesday, Elon Musk was grabbed into an interesting conversation with some Tesla fans.
@shazm01 We could add that function pretty easily from a technical standpoint. Just need to add in the billing software.

Tesla is using the internet connection to collect data for its autonomous driving neural net and high precision map building. Thus the data plan could have become too useful for them to move the cost to customers. It could make the transition to a paid plan easier.
According to Musk’s statement, the company is now considering on it and soon add the billing software. This plan will enable Tesla’s passengers to use their mobile phones with the vehicle’s service plan.
Musk also liked the idea of using the connection to feed a dynamic 360-degree surround view. This interesting idea will enable Tesla owners to use the Autopilot’s cameras as a dashcam and record the content on a separate device connected to the car.
@WaldekKubicki @shazm01 Interesting idea. Would give a dynamic 360 deg surround view as you’re driving. Have this in dev mode. Can be a bit distracting though.

Although, this function for Tesla car is under the development. Musk has already stated that if autonomous driving demands upgrades to the computers in any of the Tesla models, the design should make the process simple.
But, according to Electrek reports, the idea of the WiFi hotspot is not new. But, it is expected that the fan popularity might give it more attraction.
