Baby Robots Help Humans Understand Infant Development

A human being doing exciting new surveys or experiments to understand each and every fact in the world. Similarly, a baby robot is also an invention of it. Although, the main goal of the baby robots to analyze and track human behavior over time in the context of their surroundings. To analyze, they audio-visual monitoring in order to establish common ground and intention-reading capabilities. Now, scientists are building robots to track infant development.

A few days ago, a car manufacturer company Toyota from Japan have unveiled a baby robot to provide companionship. This robot called as Kirobo Mini and has a size of a human palm. It has the same intelligence as a five-year-old child. Similarly, to understand ourselves and how we come to be the way we are, researchers are currently building baby robots with mechanisms that model aspects of the infant brain and body. Infant development involves the various biological, psychological and emotional changes. The complexity of infant development is represented in the variability of development that is seen across tasks and individuals. Thus it is complex to understand.

According to researchers, such robots will help to explore the complexity of infant development. The robots will grasp the complicated dynamics of infant development- child’s mind and behavior.

Dr. Pierre-Yves Oudeyer, author of the baby robots review said, “provide new perspectives on individual development and behavior.”

Robotic models can help us understand better how mechanisms like imitation, curiosity-driven learning, or body maturation can interact and self-organize lifelong acquisition of skills in infants. These models also provide new hypotheses to understand diversity in individual development.

The research highlight How We Develop- Developmental Systems and the Emergence of Complex Behaviors, which seeks to provide new perspectives on individual development and behavior,” he added.
